I’m told that the beginning is a good place to start, so I’ll go with that. My wedding dream started at the age of 18, with a huge amount of enthusiasm and drive. Weddings and business are two things which I discovered (after a bit of looking) come pretty naturally to me. My parents run a business in the wedding industry, so I have grown up in and around it (literally. We used to spend school holidays in their workshop and would attend the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate every year. Honestly a dream childhood!). Believe it or not, growing up I never thought weddings were my thing. I was constantly acting in plays, dancing in shows, or singing in concerts so I always thought the theatre route would be for me. As much as I still love all that, I’m so glad I decided not to go down that route because what I’ve experienced and discovered since has been an absolutely amazing journey and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Now, though, the wedding industry is home to me and it honestly baffles me that I ever thought I’d end up in another industry. I’ve been working for the most beautiful wedding venue since March 2017 and I love it so much. It was a bit of a bumpy road (shall we say) to get to where I am now but I honestly couldn’t be happier. I live with my partner in crime, Euan, in our flat on the highstreet and I’m qualified in Wedding and Event Planning, which is what inspired me to start up my own company (Lila Bailey) and my love of writing and sharing bits & bobs from my wedding world is what fuels my blog posts.
I’ve also taken to Youtube because, well, why not! Euan and I have so much fun making the videos, and it’s a fantastic way to share bits of inside advice from the industry. I like to keeps the videos balanced; bit of weddings, bit of lifestyle. Anything too ‘same-y’ is no fun to film and no fun to watch either! You can find my channel here.
To top off all stuff ‘wedding’, I’ve also got a huge passion for wedding dresses. All of my 3 given names (Bethany, Natasha, Lila) are either after, or somehow related to, wedding dress designers, so wedding dress designing is quite obviously an inevitable destination for me. Whilst it’s not my main focus at the moment, I hope to do exactly that some day in the future.
So there you have it, all about me in one page. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing (?). Anyway, enough from me! Have a look around and hopefully you’ll find some useful bits. And if you want to get in touch, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
