Spare Room Renovation

Spare Room Renovation

If you keep up with my Instagram page, then you’ll have seen that our spare room renovation finally came together at the beginning of this week. It has been a looonnnggg time coming, and I’m just so pleased it’s done now!

When it comes to spending money, you’ll find no-one more against the idea than me. I love to save save save and never (ever) spend spend spend. So doing up a whole room seemed like a daunting task. But, one morning on my way to work (after a terrible night’s sleep) I was slightly grumpy and asked myself what is the point in driving all this way and earning money, if I can’t spend a bit of it every once in a while? Walking to work I rang Euan and told him I’d decided it was time to do the spare room up.

The next thing he knew, we were in Ikea (I’m talking a matter of days later) picking bed frames and mirrors…

The Spare Room – Before & After

In September 2016 we moved from our parents’ houses into our first home, both together and as individuals. Being perhaps slightly naive, or maybe our circumstances have just changed, we didn’t like the idea of a spare room. Thinking we’d get full use out of 3 functioning living spaces (lol) we set-up our second bedroom as an office, and our third bedroom as a second living room (with a sofa bed just in case people happened to stay over). It soon dawned on us that perhaps a guest bedroom would be more appealing after all…

So here is a ‘before & after’ of our guest bedroom…!

Products Used

Below is a link to all the items we purchased for our new & improved room! All completely affordable (and mostly from Ikea).

Bed Frame (don’t forget to order bed slats – ha!).

Side Tables

Lamp bases

Lampshades

Mirror (not pictured – it’s to the side)

Bedding

Cushions

Boxes

All-in-all, the renovation cost us around £300 and I couldn’t be happier!

*We paid for all items listed (apart from the boxes which I had already) and this post is not sponsored in any way. Just sharing the love* I haven’t listed the decor bits & pictures because they were all in the house already and I don’t know where most of them are from!

I hope you enjoyed this home interiors post. Whilst you’re here, why not take a look at our engagement shoot pics!

Is it really all just for ‘one day’?

Is it really all just for ‘one day’?

Okay, so as a bride-to-be how many times has ‘all this, just for one day’ been said to you? Have you even thought it yourself? I have already had so many people accost me with questions about it ‘just being for one day’. Well, people, I’m about to take you on a journey of discovery.

Newsflash! It’s not just about one day.

Just for one day? Part 1…

Firstly, it’s not ‘just a day’. It’s the foundation for your marriage. The day it all started. A celebration of your love. A chance for you to show the people around you how much they mean to you, how much you mean to them, and how much you (as a couple) mean to each other. It’s pretty symbolic.

Not to mention the family & friends reunion side of it. Tell me another instance where you get to sit in a room with all the most important people in your life. In one place. Altogether. For a happy occasion. You can’t? That’s because there isn’t one.

Just for one day? Part 2…

Secondly, why wouldn’t you want an excuse to dress up in the best and most expensive clothing you can afford, drink amazing wine, eat wonderful food, and dance the night away? And whilst smiling the entire time! That sounds like the perfect day. What’s not to love?!

Just for one day? Part 3…

Seriously though, it really isn’t just about that one day. Thirdly, and most importantly, it’s about the journey.

It’s about that indescribable feeling of being proposed to, and the tears of excitement and happiness as you share the news with family & friends.

It’s about deciding who you want to stand beside you on the day, and watching their expression as you tell them.

It’s about working with your partner and making decisions about your day which reflect you as a couple, and learning more about each other as you do so.

It’s about listening to and respecting your partner’s thoughts & visions for your day and coming to conclusions that you are both happy with.

It’s about wedding dress shopping with your mum and girl-friends, drinking bubbles and squealing for no particular reason, just because.

It’s about the days out with you girls/boys and giving them a chance to show you how much you mean to them.

It’s about sharing your excitement with your parents, and watching how happy it makes them to see you so elevated.

It’s about all of those little things in the build up. All of the decisions you make because of the wedding. All the conversations you have and all the memories you make along the way.

So, no, it’s not all for just one day.

And… breathe!

Okay, so I’ve officially opened the business Facebook page for Lila Bailey. It might seem like a small thing, but it is the final step to Lila Bailey’s online presence and I’m quite nervous. But it’s done, it’s there, and there’s no going back now…

If you have a minute, pop over to Lila Bailey’s Facebook Page and give us a ‘like’. We are also on Instagram and Twitter.

Thank you,

A Day at Talland Bay

A Day at Talland Bay

What a beautiful afternoon it is here in Tavistock! I hope the sun stays, but the forecast isn’t looking so good for this week…

Anyway, on Thursday I was lucky enough to spend my day at the gorgeous Talland Bay, which is in between Looe and Polperro in Cornwall. The sun was out that day too, and the views were just stunning. Hopefully I will be down there again over the next couple of weeks.

First Blog Post!

First Blog Post!

Welcome to Lila Bailey’s very first blog post…

Hello lovely people. It is a beautiful April day and I’m sitting in the sunshine looking forward to the summer and all the weddings ahead. Today I’m working on the website and brainstorming different styled shoot ideas in collaboration with Milli Fleur and The Empty Box Company, two of Lila Bailey’s recommended suppliers. It is an exciting time as things are starting to come together, but there is still so much on the horizon… I wish it could all be done now! But the greatest things often take the longest time (or so I keep telling myself).

This morning I visited the gorgeous Dartmoor venue, Ever After, at Lower Grenofen. I may be biased but I do think it is just the most phenomenal place, especially in the sunshine; I am very much looking forward to co-ordinating weddings there this summer.

Well, thanks for checking in and I hope you have a magical day.
